If you become a nurse, you will do many jobs. A nurse helps a doctor examine and treat patients. You give people medicine. A nurse tells people how to take care of themselves and their families.
As a nurse, you must read and understand medical records. A nurse needs to write reports for each patient.
A nurse gives shots and takes blood for tests. You need to make sure everything is clean so that no germs are spread.
A nurse does a lot of walking, standing, and lifting. You must be in good physical shape. A nurse needs to wash hands often to get rid of germs. You do not want to catch infections from sick patients. Some nurses wear scrubs, a special uniform, to work.
There are many special kinds of nursing jobs. Some nurses work in emergency rooms. Some nurses work in the operating rooms. Some work only with new babies. There are many more special jobs. You will need extra training to do the special jobs.
